Greetings

Hello planning students far and wide! Welcome to, or welcome back to, planning school version 2006-2007. It’s shaping up to be an interesting year for students with some Canadian Institute of Planners reform in the air, a reassembly of the Canadian Association of Planning Students, regional and national conferences afoot and, well, planning school, of course.

Sure, our agendas might get pretty full over the course of the year but we always need to take a break and slow it down from time to time. That’s when you grab your favourite mocha-whippa-double-ameri-latte-au-lait, tea, hot chocolate or equivalent and kick back to some Plan2Plan light reading. Plan2Plan is where it’s at for connecting students in Canada’s planning schools with each other as well as with academics and practicing professionals. It gives you the chance to share your thoughts, your projects and your school’s events and you can check in on what’s happening out there in the planning world.

So work it. Plan2Plan works when you

  1. read it and
  2. contribute to it.

Here’s the deal:

  • Send me anything of interest: short articles, event notices, musings, inspiring stories, wacky stories, work experiences, planners dilemmas and delights to j.murphy@dal.ca
  • Psst, pass it on. You have the link to this e-newsletter. Other people want it. Give the people what they want and gift this link to their inbox. You can subscribe to the newsletter on the site and you’ll be notified when a new P2P issue has arrived. It’s magic.

For the first issue of 2006-2007 I thought to share some thoughts on the university campus and to list some upcoming events, some courses and some hip resources. Enjoy your breaks from the busy and if you have some tidbits that should be out there in the planning sphere, send them to me and they’ll hit e-shelves next issue.

I look forward to meeting many of you over the next year. Best of luck in the fall semester!

Jeremy
